Elena Goubar is a Swiss contemporary painter of Russian origin who lives and works in Switzerland. After studying chemistry and biology at Saratov State University, she pursued formal art studies in Moscow and later founded her own state-licensed art school. Her first museum exhibition took place in Russia in 1990, followed by exhibitions in Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland and the United States. Her works are held in private and corporate collections internationally. 

Goubar has developed a highly distinctive visual language characterised by rich colour, expressive surfaces and a fluid interplay between reality and imagination. Working primarily in oil and acrylic, often with a palette knife, she builds tactile, layered surfaces that give her paintings an unusually vivid physical presence. 

Flowers, animals, figures and symbolic elements inhabit her compositions as if they belonged to a world suspended between memory, dream and everyday life. Rather than describing reality literally, Goubar transforms familiar motifs through colour, rhythm and unexpected associations, creating paintings that reveal themselves gradually and invite repeated looking.

Her large-scale works have an immediate visual impact, yet their abundance of detail and narrative fragments rewards a closer encounter. Joyful without being superficial, they bring colour, energy and a sense of imaginative freedom into the spaces they inhabit.
